Getting The DJ Equipment You Need

By Bruce Will

Ok, you want to be a DJ - you Love music and all you can think of is being able to play it, and make it. That is all good, if you have the feeling for it, there is nothing anyone can do. You will, however, need to get the low down on some of the DJ equipment you will need if you are going to be a good DJ.

The first thing you need to know, before you go out to buy a ton of equipment, is that you will stand a better chance of making a career of it if you have some sort of tertiary education behind you. Now, that said, it has to be said that it is no necessary, however, a lot of companies do look for the guys with some sort of degree.

If you go to a college to get your degree you will stand a chance of getting into the on campus radio station, which will give you a lot of work experience if you are looking to become a radio disc jockey. If you are just planning to do music in clubs and mix you own music, then you will need to know some of the pieces of DJ equipment you need to look out for.

The mixer is one of the most important parts of being a DJ. If you do not have a mixer, you cannot do any of the intricate mixing that DJ's do when they are in clubs or mixing tracks for songs. If you do not have a mixer, you are not a true DJ.

The other thing that is really important, and that forms part of your kit, is a good CD player. If you do not have a CD player, you will not be able to play music. Look for a professional CD play that offers a scratch feature.

Speakers should be the next thing on your list. Now, depending on the rest of your equipment, you will need to get the spec right for your Speakers. Also, you will need to know if you want to use powered or none powered speakers.
