Use Your Imagination When Planning Your Wedding Entertainment

By Andrew Edmonds

If your big day is around the corner, then you have a lot of decisions to make. There are flowers and photographers to consider, the guest list, what to wear, it goes on and on. One decision that should be creative and fun is what you decided about the wedding entertainment.

Past choices left those planning a wedding wishing they had more to select from. If a traditional wedding is what you want, you cannot go wrong with the tranquility a simple harp, or even piano, can offer. If the guest list includes those who like the wild side of life, maybe a more festive atmosphere is in order. It is all up to you, because the day belongs to you.

Facing the realities of what you can do comes first. First on the list of considerations is the budget. It could be the determining factor about the type of entertainment you can enlist. If family members or friends are talented, by all means see if they can help provide the entertainment. Maybe you can get free entertainment that way. If you are lucky enough to get free entertainment it is always a good idea to get them a gift or offer them a tip to show you appreciate their efforts.

There are other considerations too. Who will your guests be? Maybe your grandmother loves heavy metal as much as the friends you will invite. If that is the case, then go for it, and show everyone a great time. Maybe there are ethnic considerations. Perhaps a traditional band that plays the music of your ethnicity is what is more appropriate. It is your wedding and your group of loved ones. You know what you want and you know what will please your guests.

Hiring the wedding entertainment on your own is one option, or you might want to ask for some help. A wedding planner can also handle entertainment, if you have hired one. They will know many good entertainers who they use regularly. They are the professionals, so it is safe to put the entertainment task in their hands.

Carla was not exactly your ordinary bride, nor was her groom. She decided on a Las Vegas wedding and wanted it to be as much fun as possible. She was not looking for tradition in any form. All the guests arrived in costumes, and the wedding was performed by an Elvis impersonator. For the reception, she chose a combination bar and Chinese restaurant. She decided not to hire a band, but had the restaurant stock the jukebox with the favorite songs of her and her guests.

Carla is definitely the exception to the rule when it comes to wedding events. But what is important to remember is that the entertainment you select should be a reflection of who you are and the type of event you want your wedding to be. Just as you choose a dress and wedding location that fits your style, the entertainment should accomplish the same goal.

Being creative is the key to planning every aspect of your wedding. It will be an important day for you. Wedding entertainment can provide great memories for you and your guests.
