3 Steps To Get Rid Of My Belly Fat

By Steve Roberts

One problem that most of us in the developed world have is too much belly fat. And many of us ask ourselves the question, "How can I get rid of my belly fat?" at least several times a month. To understand what we are trying to get rid of we need to appreciate that there are two kinds of belly fat. The first is Visceral and this lies around our internal organs and protects them. The other is the jiggly stuff and that is called Subcutaneous Fat and it lies just under our skin. This is what we want to get rid of.

Before discussing how to get rid of your belly fat I would like to cover a few basic points that you need to know.

Abs exercises will NOT help you shift belly fat. Crunches and sit-ups will tone the muscles underneath the fat but will not reduce your belly fat in any way. In fact these types of exercise are the LEAST effective at getting six pack abs.

Doing the same cardio workout two or three times a week isn't going to be enough to shift that stubborn fat. You will need to combine both cardiovascular exercise with resistance training. Combined, these will deliver greater results, faster.

Diet pills, fat shredder tablets are a waste of your money. These do not work.

Before you buy many of the so called health foods read the label. You will find that many of them are packed with sugar and additives. So read the label then put them back on the shelf.

If you want to start working on losing that belly fat and getting a flat stomach then follow these three main principals.

Number one, you must start exercising. As previously mentioned, doing hours of crunches will not provide you with great results. You will tone the muscles underneath, but your belly fat will still be there. To get rid of the fat on your belly you need to burn up more calories than you are consuming. Remember, fat is unused energy. You will need to combine cardio with resistance training. This can include cycling, running, swimming, dancing playing sports etc. Combine with resistance exercise such as squats, lunges, light weight lifting, press-ups etc.

Secondly, you will need to start eating the correct foods. Many people don't realize but the most effective weight loss results come from exercise combined with healthy eating. It can be complicated to know what to eat given the amount of information available to us, but a good rule to remember is you are trying to burn off more calories than you are consuming.

Remember that this change that you are making needs to become routine so stick with it for at least twenty one days and you will then be in the habit of exercising and eating correctly and the question, "How can I get rid of my belly fat?" will have left your mind for good.

As mentioned routine is important and you should look for a fitness program that you can easily fit into your lifestyle as this will help ensure that you get into that routine that could save your life. I wish you every success in getting fit and shedding that belly fat.
